Understanding Anger: A Healing Journey

Anger is often seen as a destructive emotion, but at its core, it's a messenger. It signals that something within us feels threatened, disrespected, or unheard. When we pause to listen with compassion, we begin to understand that anger isn’t the problem, it’s pointing us toward the pain that needs healing.

The Root Cause of Anger

Anger is rarely about the present moment. It often stems from unresolved wounds, childhood experiences, unmet needs, betrayal, rejection, or moments where we felt powerless. These moments imprint beliefs like “I’m not safe,” “I’m not worthy,” or “I’m not in control,” which resurface when similar situations occur.

Where Anger Lives in the Body and Mind

Anger doesn't just live in the mind, it’s stored in the body. You might feel tightness in your chest, heat in your face, or clenching in your jaw or fists. This is your nervous system reacting to a perceived threat, often one rooted in past emotional memory. The liver, in traditional Chinese medicine, is also linked to suppressed anger and frustration, which can create physical and energetic imbalances.

How Triggers Work

A trigger is a current experience that mirrors an old wound. When someone criticizes you, ignores you, or crosses a boundary, your body reacts not just to this moment, but to every moment that felt the same in your past. The reaction can feel intense because it carries emotional weight that’s been buried for years.

How to Heal and Move Forward

  1. Acknowledge the emotion : Don't suppress or shame your anger. Breathe into it and ask, “What are you trying to tell me?”

  2. Identify the root wound: Reflect on past experiences where you felt similar pain. This awareness is the first step toward healing.

  3. Release it safely: Journaling, energy healing (like Reiki), movement, or even a primal scream in a safe space can help release stored tension.

  4. Rewire your response : Through mindfulness, somatic practices, and inner child healing, you can teach your mind and body a new way to respond, with clarity, not reactivity.

  5. Seek support: You don’t have to heal alone. Working with a guide can help you uncover the deeper layers, shift your energy, and restore your inner peace.

Diagnosis:
You are not your anger—you are the awareness behind it. When you allow yourself to feel, understand, and release, you step into your power, reclaim your peace, and begin to live with intention instead of reaction.

Best practice:

Always remember: The person or situation triggering your anger holds no power over you. You are the owner of your power. When you stay calm, breathe deeply, and remain grounded in your truth, a positive, aligned response will rise naturally from within.
